Location
Matt's mom, Pat, is hosting us at her absolutely stunning property in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. It’s a huge piece of ocean-front, magnificent property and we can't wait for you all to see it. It is our most favourite place on earth. Why the heck else would we drag you all the way out there? The ceremony, reception and day after BBQ will all be hosted here!
Maps, as well as driving directions from Toronto, Sydney and Halifax, can be found here. When booking your flights, keep in mind the property is about 2 hours from Sydney airport and 4 hours from Halifax Airport.

Order of Events
Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 3:00pm
- Outdoor ceremony
- Cocktail reception
- Lobster bake dinner
- Dancing, drinking and shenanigans
The ceremony will begin at 3:00pm and the party will end in the wee hours. We'll be providing transportation to-and-from nearby accommodations (Grand Étang, Point Cross, Chéticamp, Petit Étang). Safety first friends! Will will be in touch to determine where you're staying and what time you will be picked up.
Attire: Fancy Casual
But mostly just casual.
The ceremony will be held outdoors and the reception in a big tent. We have a backup hall booked in case the weather chooses to ruin our lives that day. Here are some helpful (important) attire tips:
- Informal and super chill. Make sense? Good. If not, call us.
- Be prepared to get messy. It’s a lobster bake! Don’t wear your best dress or your Armani suit. You may get butter on yourself. Please note — bibs will be provided (not joking).
- Wear comfortable shoes. The ground isn’t completely flat and we don’t want any rolled ankles. Flats HIGHLY recommended. In fact, high heels not allowed (joking but not really).
- Bring something warm. A sweater, pashmina, scarf, jacket. Hell, bring backup pants! It gets windy right on the ocean and it’s June, not August. You will get cold. Be prepared! We'll make sure there's a place for you to store your stuff.
Thursday: Pre-Partaay
If you arrive on or before Thursday, June 13th, we'd love for you to join us for a night out. We'll provide snacks and help you arrange transportation (it's a small town with no Uber, no taxis, no nothin' - but we got you).
Sunday: BBQ
We don't even know if we're going to make it to this part (joking...we'll be there). If you'd like to join for a post-wedding-debrief/hangover bbq, watching the waves, laying in the sun, reminiscing about the previous 24 hours COME TO THIS BBQ. And we can finish all the booze from the night before. Caesars anyone???
Presents/Presence: Wedding Gifts
Unfortunately, we're not registering for gifts. There is nothing that would make us cringe more than parading our way through The Hudson’s Bay with a scanner in hand in the housewares department. You know us. This would kill us. And drinking in public isn’t allowed. If there’s a gift you think we would love, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, but please don’t bring it with you! We’ll arrange to pick it up from you in Toronto.
If you wish to contribute to the ever-so-adventurous Maxine and Matt, cash or airline vouchers are very appreciated. Also, we love cards and good novels! Ultimately, what we really care about is seeing you.
